​​​logo was created as a sequel to my previous piece ergo, intended as the second instalment in a trilogy of works that approach the piano as a vessel for the exploration of resonance, memory, and the physicality of sound.

Similarly to ergo, this piece explores the possibilities of the piano not just as a sonic generator, but also as a unique resonant mechanism, and deals with the elemental notions of action and consequence. At the request of pianist Francisco Morais Fernandes, for whom ergo was written, the musical material of this work is derived out of the Portuguese traditional song Adeus, meu amado, as recorded by the researcher and composer Armando Leça. In addition to this, the piece also integrates a collage of other musical recordings of Leça, played through a hidden loudspeaker inside the piano. In this way, the work seeks to establish a connection between past and present, the resonant echoes of the piano as a parallel of what remains of our popular cultural memory, slowly dying out to the passage of time.
