Program notes

The interdisciplinary choir opera ordo fluctus combines haptic, acoustic, and visual forms of expression, integrating artistic audio description in the piece to enable both blind and sighted audiences to experience the work. The piece explores the question of the “self” in today’s world: who are we in the midst of external voices and internal struggles?

In this piece, the music theater collective operationderkuenste draws inspiration from the medieval musical drama Ordo Virtutum by Hildegard von Bingen and the poetic novel The Waves by Virginia Woolf. Building on these works, ordo fluctus creates an ethereal new composition in which voices, bodies, and memories are interwoven, seeking for a fragile balance between the past and the present.​
